Value, comfort, and a better environment come standard with every Energy Star® qualified home built by Tierra Custom Homes.
ENERGY STAR® is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy that has successfully delivered energy and cost savings across the country since 1992. These savings for businesses, organizations, and consumers were about $18 billion in 2010 alone.
Low-E windows
We use ENERGY STAR®qualified windows that employ advanced technologies, such as protective coatings and improved frame assemblies, to help keep heat in during winter and out during summer. These windows also block damaging ultraviolet sunlight that can discolor carpets and furnishings.
Advanced framing system
This reduces the amount of lumber used and increases amount of insulation.
Properly installed insulation
In the floors, walls, and attics of our homes, it provides even temperatures, increased comfort, and lower utility bills.
Proper sealing
We seal all plates and framing penetrations to reduce air flow. Our homes are sealed to reduce holes and cracks in the home’s “envelope.” This reduces your utility bills and improves the comfort and indoor air quality of your home by minimizing drafts, moisture, dust, pollen, and noise.
Energy Star® Appliances
Our homes are equipped with ENERGY STAR qualified products – lighting fixtures, compact fluorescent bulbs, ventilation fans, and appliances, such as refrigerators, dishwashers, and washing machines. These products provide you with even more energy savings.
High-efficiency furnaces
Our homes’ high-efficiency furnaces will keep you warm without breaking the bank. ENERGY STAR® qualified furnaces are up to 15% more efficient than standard models.
Recycled content carpet and pad
Low water use faucets and toilets
No V.O.C. paints
Standard paints contain VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), such as formaldehyde, which are unhealthy to breathe. Tierra uses no VOC paints to help protect the indoor air quality.
Durable, longer-lasting building products
These protect and save on replacement costs and require less maintenance.
Third Party Verification
Receive a HERS (Home Energy Rating System) for your new home. This rating will give you an estimated annual energy cost, so you won’t have surprises waiting for you. Our homes are tested and inspected by an independent Home Energy Rater to ensure that your new home meets ENERGY STAR’s® strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). If a new home does not have a HERS rating then it hasn’t been inspected by an independent third party.
